SAN JACINTO – On 08/31/2022 at about 8:43 pm, Cal Fire and San Jacinto PD responded to reports of a confrontation between two individuals at a gas station at the intersections of San Jacinto Ave and Seventh St and that both individuals were bleeding, possibly by stabbing each other during the fight.
Arriving crews located one of the men suffering from multiple stab wounds near the gas station, the other individual who walked off from the scene was located a short time later on a street near the San Jacinto Police station and was taken into custody.
The motive behind the altercation is unclear at this time although witnesses who watched the scene take place stated that one of the men approached the other party who was standing near the gas station market and stated that he was “having a bad day” before pulling a knife and attacking the man, stabbing him several times in the head.
Accoring to witnesses the assailant then proceeded to walk off in direction of the police station as if nothing happened. During the fight, both men ended up with knife wounds but it’s unclear at this time if the assailant self infliced the knife wounds before walking away or if he was wounded by the other party who was attempting to defend himself from the vicious attack.
Deputies had to cordon off a large area as a crime scene due to numerous blood stains being left on the sidewalk and street.
The man who suffered the worst injuries in the attack was transported to a local trauma center in unknown condition. It was later learned that he survived the attack and should be making a full recovery.
The identity of the person of interest taken into custody is unknown at this time and it’s unknown if any charges have been filed against him.
A large presence of San Jacinto PD and Riverside County Sheriff’s Deputies and investigators were at the scene until just past midnight.
An update will be posted if any new information becomes available.
